  1. Who we are

Roof Types Guide is an informational website available at https://rooftypesguide.com. The website is operated by Anthony Mulvey, 8, Grange Drive, B74 3DT, United Kingdom.

For privacy questions or requests, contact: contact@rooftypesguide.com.

  1. Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we use it, when it may be shared, how long it may be retained, and the choices and rights available to visitors. It applies to information collected through this website, including the contact form and the Find a Roofer contractor-matching form.

  1. Information we collect

Information you provide directly

When you contact us, you may provide your name, email address and the contents of your message.

When you use the Find a Roofer service, you may be asked for information such as your name, email address, telephone number, postal address or ZIP code, project details and preferred contact information. The contractor-matching form is supplied by a third-party service provider. Information entered into that form is transmitted to that provider and may be shared with relevant contractors in order to respond to your request.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the website, our hosting, security and analytics services may automatically process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location, dates and times of visits and interactions with the website.

Cookies and similar technologies may be used to provide essential website functions, remember consent preferences, understand website usage and, where applicable, measure referrals. Non-essential cookies and scripts are controlled through the consent banner where required. You can change your preferences at any time through the Manage Consent control.

  1. How we use personal information

We may use personal information to:

Respond to enquiries submitted through the contact form.
Provide or facilitate a requested contractor-matching service.
Send a request to the relevant service provider or participating contractor when you ask us to do so.
Operate, maintain, secure and troubleshoot the website.
Prevent spam, fraud, misuse and other harmful activity.
Measure website traffic and understand how visitors use the website.
Improve our content, design and services.
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights.
Record and respect cookie and privacy choices.

Where applicable, we rely on consent, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the website, taking steps at your request, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time, although this does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.

  1. Contractor matching and affiliate relationships

The Find a Roofer form connects visitors with a third-party contractor-matching provider, currently Networx. When you submit that form, the information you enter is sent to the provider identified in or around the form and is handled under that provider’s own privacy notice and terms. The provider may contact you and may share your request with participating roofing contractors.

Roof Types Guide may receive compensation when a visitor submits a valid request or uses an affiliate or referral link. This does not increase the price paid by the visitor. Please review the information and consent wording shown with the form before submitting it.

  1. Analytics

We may use Google Analytics through MonsterInsights to understand aggregated website usage, such as page visits, traffic sources and general device information. Google Analytics may process identifiers and technical information. Analytics is placed in the Statistics category of our consent system and is controlled according to your consent choice where required. GA4 is designed not to log or store individual IP addresses.

  1. Contact forms and email

Contact-form submissions are used to answer the enquiry and administer the website. Messages are delivered to our website email account through our hosting and email providers. Please do not submit sensitive personal, financial or medical information through the general contact form.

  1. Cookies

Essential cookies are used for security, website operation and recording privacy preferences. Statistics and marketing technologies are used only in accordance with the choices offered by our consent system and applicable law. Details of cookies and services detected on the website are provided in our Cookie Policy. You can delete cookies using your browser settings, but doing so may affect website functionality.

  1. When we share information

We may disclose personal information to:

Hosting, website, email, security and technical service providers that help us operate the website.
Analytics providers where you have consented or where otherwise permitted by law.
Contractor-matching providers and participating contractors when you request that service.
Professional advisers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or courts where disclosure is legally required or necessary to protect rights and safety.
A successor or purchaser if the website or its assets are transferred, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We do not sell personal information for money. Some US privacy laws may define certain analytics, advertising or referral disclosures as a sale or sharing even when no money is exchanged for the information. Where applicable, you may opt out through the consent controls or by contacting us.

  1. International transfers

Roof Types Guide is operated from the United Kingdom and is intended primarily for visitors in the United States. Service providers and contractors may process information in the United Kingdom, United States or other countries. Where required, appropriate contractual or legal safeguards are used for international transfers.

  1. Data retention

We retain contact enquiries only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer them, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Technical and analytics data is retained according to the settings and policies of the relevant providers. Contractor-matching providers and contractors determine their own retention periods for information submitted to them.

  1. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction, deletion, restriction or objection to processing, portability of information, withdrawal of consent, and information about recipients or sources. You may also have the right to opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising or profiling and to appeal a refused request.

You may exercise applicable rights by emailing contact@rooftypesguide.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

UK visitors may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. US residents may also contact the appropriate state attorney general or privacy regulator.

Global Privacy Control and supported Do Not Track signals are respected through our consent system where technically available and required.

  1. Third-party websites

Our articles may link to manufacturers, retailers, affiliate partners and other independent websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices or content. Review the privacy notice of any third-party website before providing information.

  1. Children’s privacy

This website is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so that we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

  1. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect personal information. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

  1. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the website, service providers or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with a revised Last updated date.
